Har HaBituach is a service of the Capital Market, Insurance and Savings Authority that lets you see, in one place, the active insurance policies registered under your name. It is an excellent starting point for checking duplicate insurance — but it does not replace reading the policy itself, and on its own it does not determine whether cancelling or replacing a policy is the right move.
What Har HaBituach actually shows
Har HaBituach lists the active policies that insurance companies and institutional bodies have reported to the Capital Market Authority. It does not present all of your rights, but it is enough to give you an initial picture.
- A list of the policies registered under your name — health, life, personal accident, long-term care, loss of working capacity and more
- Insurance companies and managing bodies
- The general type of cover and the start date of the policy
- Monthly premium details as reported
What Har HaBituach does not show: the full policy wording, your personal exclusions, underwriting gaps from when you joined, and specific waiting periods. Those appear in the policy itself or in your personal area on the insurer's website.
How to prepare
Logging into Har HaBituach requires secure identification through "Memshala Zmina" (the Israeli government identification service) — usually with your national ID, an identification password, and a second authentication factor. It helps to have the following ready in advance.
- Israeli national ID (Teudat Zehut) and your government identification password ("Memshala Zmina")
- A mobile phone available to receive a verification code
- Existing policies in PDF or paper form — to compare with what Har HaBituach shows
- If reviewing a family portfolio — each adult family member needs to identify separately
For a minor or a person under guardianship, follow the current instructions on the official Har HaBituach website. Your HMO does not manage identification for this service. Do not share your government identification password or one-time verification code with anyone.
What to compare first in your Har HaBituach data
Once you have a list of policies, most overlaps tend to show up if you compare the following groups in parallel.
What Har HaBituach does not solve on its own
Even if you find an overlap in the data, that does not automatically mean a policy should be cancelled. Har HaBituach shows that a policy exists, but it does not check the economic or medical logic of keeping it.
- Whether the older policy includes underwriting conditions or extensions that are no longer offered today
- If anything has changed in the medical situation — cancellation may trigger new underwriting or new exclusions
- When the new cover actually starts — worth checking before cancelling the old one
- Policies that come from a pension fund or provident fund — some appear in the pension clearinghouse, not in Har HaBituach
- Policy wording: sometimes a single phrase distinguishes two covers that look identical
What to do after you see the list
Once you have a clear list of policies, the next step is to go through each policy separately and answer a few simple questions: what was it originally for, is it still relevant, does it overlap with another policy, and what will stop being covered if you cancel it. If you'd rather not do that alone, an insurance agent can help.

- If the list is long and it is not clear what complements what
- If there's a job change, divorce, home purchase, or a similar family event
- If you're considering cancelling an older policy and your medical situation has changed since
- If a policy through the workplace does not appear in Har HaBituach — it should be located through the employer
- If you are paying amounts you cannot match to the policies on the list

Message me on WhatsAppFrequently asked questions about Har HaBituach and duplicate insurance
Does Har HaBituach show all of my policies?
In most cases yes, but gaps are possible. For example, very new policies that have not yet been reported, certain group policies through the workplace, or policies that recently changed. If something is missing, it is worth checking with the insurance company or with the employer.
Is the data on Har HaBituach up to date?
The data is updated by insurance companies and institutional bodies on a cadence set by regulation. There can be temporary delays, so it is worth noting the update date shown on the screen.
What is the difference between Har HaBituach and the pension clearinghouse?
Har HaBituach focuses on insurance policies — health, life, personal accident and similar. The pension clearinghouse (Maslaka) shows information about pension and savings products: pension funds, provident funds, savings policies and managers' insurance. If you want the full picture, you sometimes need both sources.
If I find duplicate cover — does that mean I should cancel?
Not necessarily. Sometimes the same section in two policies actually creates an advantage — indemnity alongside lump-sum, or a private policy alongside a group policy — and sometimes it really is an unnecessary cost. The decision should be based on reading the policy, on your personal exclusions, and on your current situation.
Can I check Har HaBituach for family members?
Each adult needs to identify separately. Children below a certain age are usually included under the insured parent, subject to the HMO and the specific policy's rules. If anything is unclear, you can reach out to your HMO or to an insurance agent.
Does Har HaBituach cost anything?
Har HaBituach itself is a public service of the Capital Market, Insurance and Savings Authority and does not charge the insured. Policy pricing and any changes — if you choose to make them — depend on the policies themselves and on applicable law.
Short summary
Har HaBituach saves a lot of time when you are trying to locate your policies, but it is not a substitute for a careful review of the policy content. It is excellent for seeing what you have, and from there for reading the terms and comparing the policies. Even if overlaps appear, the recommended approach is to go over them with an insurance agent before any change.
