Free Duplicate Insurance Check

Paying for several policies and not sure what is really duplicated? We start by mapping your existing cover, look for overlaps and see what is worth keeping, changing or reviewing more carefully — without cancelling anything before we understand it.

What the review covers

Duplicate insurance — not always a mistake, but always worth checking

Duplicate insurance means two or more policies that could cover a similar event. Sometimes there is a real reason for it; sometimes it is an unnecessary expense. The review here starts by mapping your existing policies, your Shaban and what appears in Har HaBituach. Only after that do we look at what to keep, change or review in more detail.

What duplicate insurance actually is

  • Two or more policies that could cover the same event — fully identical or with overlapping sections
  • In indemnity cover (reimbursement of actual expenses) you usually cannot be reimbursed twice for the same expense
  • In lump-sum cover (a fixed amount) the rules can differ and each case depends on the policy
  • The takeaway: duplicate cover is not automatically a problem — sometimes the products complement each other

Where overlap usually appears

  • Health: Shaban with the HMO, a private policy and group cover through an employer
  • Personal accident cover across several policies in parallel
  • Life: a private policy, mortgage life insurance and survivors' cover inside the pension fund
  • Travel: credit-card travel cover alongside a separately purchased travel policy

What you receive from the review

  • A clear list of the active policies we identified
  • An explanation of where coverage may overlap and where it may complement
  • What to dig into further (policy wording, exclusions, underwriting, waiting periods)
  • Plain-language next-step recommendations — no pressure to cancel anything
Review process

Three simple steps

The review starts with mapping, not with cancelling. Any decision is made after we see the full picture.

01

Send your details and approve the review

A short form or a WhatsApp message. We understand together who is in the family, which policies you already have and what you are worried about.

02

Map your policies and Har HaBituach

With your approval, we review the policy documents, cross-check them with the Capital Market Authority's Har HaBituach and look for sections that may overlap.

03

Receive a careful explanation

A short conversation in Hebrew, Russian or English — what overlaps, what does not, what needs a deeper look and what to check before any change.

Common areas

Where overlap usually shows up

The picture below is a general overview. The exact overlap depends on the specific policies, the Shaban regulations and the terms of your employer group cover.

Health insurance

Shaban with the HMO, a private health policy and a group policy through an employer can include overlapping sections — for example private surgery in Israel, specialist consultations or certain reimbursements.

Personal accident

Several personal-accident policies often run in parallel (private, employer, credit card). Each one should be checked according to its event definition, payout structure and insured sum.

Life insurance

Private life insurance, mortgage life insurance and survivors' cover in the pension fund are different products. They may overlap in purpose, but the rights, terms and beneficiaries differ.

Travel insurance abroad

Credit-card travel cover and a separately purchased travel policy may include similar protections — but the liability limits, deductibles and age conditions are not always identical.

Home / mortgage insurance

Building insurance tied to the mortgage, a household policy with an insurance company, and sometimes a policy through the bank can include similar sections. It is worth verifying what the bank actually requires and what you bought on top.

Car insurance

Full duplication is rare. Still, it is worth checking overlapping add-ons (roadside service, driver accident cover, third-party extensions) so you don't pay twice for the same extension.

Pension and savings

Pension and pension savings are not in Har HaBituach — they sit under the pension clearinghouse (Maslaka). As part of the review we can point you to the right source.

Har HaBituach

What Har HaBituach shows — and what it doesn't

Har HaBituach, run by the Capital Market, Insurance and Savings Authority, is an excellent starting point — but it does not replace reading the policy itself.

What you can see in Har HaBituach

  • A list of the active policies registered under your name
  • The insurance companies and managing institutions
  • General coverage types and basic policy details
  • Monthly premium and policy period

What needs professional interpretation

  • Policy wording: what is actually covered and what is not
  • Personal exclusions and medical underwriting at the time of joining
  • Whether the cover is indemnity or lump-sum
  • Waiting periods and possible impact on cancellation or replacement

Har HaBituach is operated by the Capital Market, Insurance and Savings Authority. It requires secure identification, and access to your data only happens with your approval.

When not to cancel — even if there is overlap

An automatic cancellation does not always save money. Sometimes it actually damages cover you already have.

An older health policy with good terms

Policies opened years ago can contain underwriting conditions and extensions that are no longer available in newer policies.

Medical situation changed since joining

If your medical situation has changed, cancelling and re-buying may trigger a fresh round of underwriting, new exclusions or a refusal.

A new policy that is not fully active yet

New cover is sometimes subject to a waiting period. Cancelling the old policy before the new one is fully active can create a coverage gap.

Mortgage life vs. private life insurance

Mortgage life insurance goes down with the loan and is meant for the bank. Private life insurance is meant for the family. The apparent overlap does not erase the real difference.

Group cover through an employer

Group cover through a workplace can end when you leave the employer. Sometimes it is worth keeping a parallel private policy as a backup.

Cover that triggers differently

In some cases similar cover is triggered through a different claim mechanism (indemnity vs lump-sum), so one policy may pay in a situation where the other will not.

What to expect after you reach out

  • I'll come back to you for a short conversation (phone, WhatsApp or video).
  • No policy is cancelled before a proper review.
  • We may ask for policies in PDF, Har HaBituach access with your approval, or a screenshot of policy details.

What's useful to have ready

  • ID documents for both spouses
  • Health, life, personal-accident, travel and car policies — as much as you have to hand
  • Information about health / life insurance through the workplace
  • Har HaBituach / pension clearinghouse details — we can pull these together during the review
  • Other documents (mortgage paperwork, credit-card insurance benefits) if relevant

How we work together

  • Mapping before recommending

I do not recommend cancellation before I have seen the policy and understood your family and medical context.

  • Clear conversation in Hebrew, Russian or English

Every decision is based on a structured explanation of the sections — not on pressure or savings promises.

  • Licensed insurance agent

Working with insurance companies and institutional bodies, subject to my active agreements and the information you share.

  • No cost, no obligation

The review is free. Even if nothing changes — at least you'll know what is actually in your portfolio.

No cost, no obligation, and no automatic cancellations.

Frequently asked questions about duplicate insurance

Answers to the questions people ask before starting a review.

How do I check whether I have duplicate insurance?

Start by mapping the active policies — private, through an employer, through a credit card and through the bank. Cross-check against Har HaBituach at the Capital Market Authority and compare the sections. If the same section appears in more than one policy, the wording needs to be reviewed to understand whether it is real duplication or complementary cover.

Is duplicate insurance always bad?

Not necessarily. Sometimes it is an unnecessary expense; sometimes two parallel covers are kept on purpose — for example a private policy alongside an employer policy, or indemnity alongside lump-sum. The decision depends on the type of cover, exclusions, waiting periods and the purpose of each policy.

Can I get reimbursement from two duplicate policies?

In indemnity cover (reimbursement of actual expenses), you usually cannot be paid twice for the same expense. In lump-sum cover (a fixed amount), the rules can differ and sometimes payment is possible from more than one policy. In every case, the conditions in the specific policy must be reviewed.

What is Har HaBituach?

Har HaBituach is a service of the Capital Market, Insurance and Savings Authority that lists the active insurance policies registered under your name. You can see the policies, the insurance companies, the general coverage types and basic premium details. It is an excellent starting point but does not replace reading the policy itself and does not explain personal exclusions or medical underwriting.

Can an insurance agent review my whole portfolio?

Yes, with your approval. A licensed insurance agent can go through the policies with you and help you understand which sections overlap, which complement each other and what to look at more carefully. The final decisions always stay with you.

What documents should I prepare for the review?

Usually it is enough to start with ID documents and access to whichever policies you already have (PDF files, your personal area on the insurer's website, or Har HaBituach information). If anything is missing, it can usually be completed during the review itself.
